A non-profit organization that helps the families of Ventura County firefighters was presented on Wednesday with a $750,000 donation to fund scholarships.
Outside the Ventura County Fire Department’s Station 33, which sits across the road from Lake Sherwood, Elizabeth Grossman signed a ceremonial check to the Widows, Orphans & Assistance Fund. The Dr. Richard Grossman Community Foundation, named for her late husband, donated the money.
Richard Grossman was a renowned plastic surgeon who pioneered the treatment of burn victims.
“These are his people,” Elizabeth Grossman said of the firefighters who attended the informal donation presentation. “What he really wanted to be was a fireman.” Read more…
